♪ Music Is For All ♫

Dr. Shin’ichi Suzuki said, “Musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability which can be developed.” It is this philosophy that shapes Ms. Buchanan’s pedagogy. Given the proper tools, all humans can make music. Through persistence, listening, and thoughtful practice, students not only learn how to play an instrument, but how to utilize these tools to reach goals throughout their lives.

Tutti Studio NYC is dedicated to providing music education that is both inclusive and accessible. Ms. Buchanan strives to teach a diverse range of music, year round — from standard repertoire to artists who are typically left out of the Western music canon, to songs of a student’s choice. She wants students to learn from a variety of sources, especially from those which reflect their own identities and experiences.

Ms. Buchanan takes a student centered approach, and teaches toward the whole child. Students are encouraged to create and take charge of their practice. In lessons, students are guided through composition, technique building, music theory, and tone development. Through these tools, students gain the skills to express emotions and discover who they are.

Great musicians are not born out of raw talent, but out of dedication, practice, and persistence. If given the chance, any student can learn to play music, and have fun at the same time!
